The scene represents a courtesan carrying a mirror and taking care of the beauty of her mistress by bringing her a box containing adornments. On either side of the temple of beauty, stand two other figures, a young ephebe completely naked also wearing a complement of adornments and belts, as well as another richly dressed courtesan holding jewelry boxes. The center stage mistress and dresser are covered in transparent linen veils and drapes, delicately revealing their nudity. It could be a preparation for a wedding scene, and this hydria could have been given as a gift for a wedding.
